PERSONAL PROFILE:
Discipline: Plant Breeding
Position: Senior Research Fellow
Qualification: BSc., MSc., PhD.
Technological Achievements:
Development and release, in collaboration with other scientists, of promising crop varieties including one high fibre yielding kenaf variety for adoption by famers and industrialists, and seven high grain yielding and adaptable hybrid maize varieties for use by farmers and seed companies in Nigeria
Research Interest:
Over the years, my research interest has generally been in Crop Science with specific focus on genetic resources conservation and use, breeding for high crop yield, tolerance to nutrient and water stress conditions; seed agronomy and quality assurance, as well as conservation, promotion and utilization neglected crops

Current Research Activities:
I am currently working on the development of high grain yielding, nutrient rich and climate smart maize varieties, and adaptable high grain yielding and high popping quality popcorn varieties. Besides, I work with farmers across Nigeria on a long neglected multi-purpose crop (kenaf, Hibiscus cannabinus L.) capable of generating earnings for both small scale and large scale farmers and investors. I also currently engage in the improvement of roselle for high calyx yield. My research includes improvement of the crops’ seed yield and quality too
