32nd South-west Zonal Workshop of the Research Extension Farmers Input Linkage System (REFILS) is here.

The Opening program which was held at Professor Adebowale Training hall on 19th March, 2019 commenced with the introduction of guests to the high table and the National Prayer was recited as opening prayer. The occasion witnessed welcome address delivered by the Director of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Professor James Alabi Adediran who appreciated the efforts of National Agricultural Research Institutes (NARIs) for ensuring that quests for new technologies are up held. The Director also appreciated the governors of states who have supported and funded Agricultural Development Project activities in their states. He further appealed to them to ensure that funds for REFILS are factored into their annual budgets as a priority list. The contributions of Universities, Agro-Input dealers, NGOs and Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in organizing this year’s program were equally appreciated. A brief history of the Institute was given and everyone was invited to celebrate the Institutes 50th anniversary with us.
Opening remarks was rendered by the Southwest Zonal Coordinator of REFILS, Dr. (Mrs.) B. O. Lawal while the keynote address was delivered by Professor Adeduro Joseph Adegeye a professor of Agricultural Economics and the Director of Entrepreneurship and General studies University of Medical Sciences, Ondo City, Ondo State. The keynote address centred on Nigeria Agriculture: Beyond Hoes and Cutlasses and the Challenges of the Nigerian trained agriculturist. Good will were given by a number of invited guests among whom were the Regional Director of FMARD, Mr Ogunwale Joseph Adeniyi (representative of honorable minister of Agriculture Chief Audu Ogbeh), Dr Ogunleke (Representative of the Provost of Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology), Dr Olaniyan, Executive Director of National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHROT), Ekiti State government Represented by Engr. Oludare Abegunde, National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Service (NAERLS) and Prof. V. B. Obatolu (on behalf of the 50th Anniversary planning committee). Awards were also presented to different categories of people. The occasion also witnessed the launching of 2018 REFILS Workshop Proceedings. The occasion was rounded off by visit to different exhibition stands.
The programme continues today (20/03/2019) with technical session and would be rounded up with the pre-season training on 21st March, 2019.
